Each year the Institute for Computing in Research hires one research intern from outside New Mexico as a visiting scholar. Students will carry out their internship in exactly the same way as the local interns, except that they will have to travel to Santa Fe for their internship. Eligibility criteria (10th, 11th, 12th grade, …) are the same as for local students.
Out of state students should read the materials at the internship page, and apply in the application page. When they apply they should explain that they are applying for the position of visiting scholar.
The Institute will work to try to place the selected student with a host family in Santa Fe. At this time we cannot guarantee that we will find a solution, and the student should also make an effort to find an accommodation.
Pandemic adjustment: in the summer of 2021 we still have uncertainty on whether the Institute will operate in person or remotely. If we operate remotely the the visiting scholar will have the option of staying in their home city, but they will have to adjust their time zone to work the same schedule as the Santa Fe students: the US/Mountain time zone.
