Would you like to spend the summer in Santa Fe or Portland or Austin, and get paid to do research? If you live beyond commuting distance of those cities then you can be a visiting scholar in those cities.
Since 2021 the Institute for Computing in Research has hired one research intern from outside each of our cities as a visiting scholar. Students carry out their internship in exactly the same way as the local interns, except that they have to relocate to that city for their internship. Eligibility criteria (10th, 11th, 12th grade, …) are the same as for local students.
Out of state students should read the materials at the internship page, and apply in the application page. When they apply they should explain that they are applying for the position of visiting scholar in the city they are interested in.
The Institute will work to try to place the selected student with a host family in Santa Fe. At this time we cannot guarantee that we will find a solution, and the student should also make an effort to find an accommodation.
